縁切りが終了したら、下塗りの開始です。
下塗りは瓦などの素材がこれから塗る塗料を吸い込んでしまうのを抑える役目をします。あまりにも吸収が激しい素材には複数回の下塗りをする事もあります。
また、上塗りとの密着性を高める役目もします。
